From the Udrin cirque to the Rila Monastery. Here is the full program:

Day 1

Yavorova Meadow (1,600 m) – The Urdini Lakes (2,300 m)

We leave from Sofia at 8:30 a.m. (The car park of Sportna Sofia, the tennis tables in Borisova Garden.)

Scenic ascent along the Urdina River to the eponymous lakes.

This is the first botanical trail in Bulgaria, inaugurated in 2002.

Over 60 species of embryophytes could be observed along the way. It will give us general knowledge about basic tree and shrub species, as well as herbs, which we will be able to see in Rila National Reserve. From the tree species we will be able to see the spruce, the fir, the scots pine, and another local species of pine – the Pinus peuce.

Endemic plants – the primrose, the Alchemilla vulgaris, and the Lilium jankae.

The higher altitude also provides the habitat for the wild goat, which is easy to see, compared to the rest of the dwellers here.

We spend the night camping in the wild near a forest shelter.

Duration – 5 hours.
